Busker festival draws large crowd

On Saturday June 9, 2018, a good number of the people of Cobourg came downtown for the annual Busker Festival.  There were 9 official performers and a few others as well as many vendors.  At around 11:00, the annual “walk a mile in her shoes” fundraiser for Cornerstone also happened but since some of the advertising said a later time, I missed it.  I heard that it had more people than previous years.  A stroll along King Street around noon with a camcorder resulted in a good sample of what one would see at the event.  I caught Police Chief Kai Liu helping with a family photo and managed to see three separate “buskers” as well as the Premiere Dance group.

Note that these buskers, like most others, get “paid” by money thrown in a “hat’.

Here is a list of the buskers:

  • 3M Dance Works
  • Premiere Dance *
  • Nathaniel Rankin – Canadian Champion of Magic
  • Troy Sexton – Rhythm Works
  • Andy Giroux – Limited Edition
  • Les Soeurs Kif-Kif  *
  • Circle of Sixth – Jazz/Contemporary band  *
  • Les Tartanpions  *
  • Kyle Juggler

You people need to give your heads a shake! Do you expect the CAO of Northumberland to spend her time paving our roads and working a few shifts at Golden Plough Lodge? Should Canada’s Finance Minister process our income tax returns too?

Community Relations are part and parcel of Chief Liu’s job; an important part. As a newcomer to Cobourg his approach has made him approachable to residents, as he gets to know us and we get to know him. This old-timer has seen a few police chiefs come and go. Chief Liu has been outstanding in his work over the last few years, best choice we ever made for that position.

on another subject – the lawns and boulevard at the deserted Brookside mansion – Cobourg east are a discraceful – the town can well afford to cut the grass – how sad that this is allowed to happen in our” tourist town”

Police Chief Kai Liu might better spend his time solving crimes.

Another serious example of what is actually happening with policing in Cobourg.

How do we know this wasn’t his usual day off and he decided to attend a community function?

Perhaps John could tell us if he was on duty or not. Was he wearing his uniform?

Even if his day off, he would represent the Dept. and wear his uniform.
Is there anything in life you like Tim. You are getting boring.

You’re pretty boring yourself but there are a lot of things I like so thank you for asking. I like hockey, baseball, most team sports, science, politics, music, history, common sense, kindness, decency, competence, honesty, fairness and justice. I’m a dreamer, in other words.
