Celebration of 10 years in Business

Adam Bureau is the Chair of the DBIA but also the owner of one of Cobourg’s successful businesses – Buy and Sell.  Today he celebrated 10 years of operation complete with presentations, speeches, food and entertainment. But as well as operating his own business he is working in tandem with three other businesses who share his premises in a prime location on King Street.  The three startups don’t need and can’t afford to rent a full store so they are located in his store.  Video Games City, WD Cyber Solutions and Classic Coins and Bank Notes get cheaper rent, they can back each other up when they need to leave their position unattended and they generate traffic for each other.  Today was the official grand opening for them; WD Cyber Solutions just started this year but the other two have been operating there for a year.

The food was catered by Rustic Bean and the Entertainment was by Mike Kelly.  Speeches were by Deputy Mayor John Henderson (representing himself, the Mayor and MPP Lou Rinaldi!), Councillor Suzanne Séguin, Jamie Simmons (for Kim Rudd) and the DBIA Vice-chair Julie Dreyer.  They presented certificates or plaques to Adam and the owners of the “new” businesses (see photos below).

Adam was gracious when he spoke of his gratitude for the support by his customers and how he had learned to work with the DBIA Team.  The four businesses provided prizes that were given out to lucky customers – these included a large TV and a valuable diamond ring.

Congratulations Wendy and Adam on ten years on King Street. What a great idea to share the Buy & Sell premises with other small businesses. Also, thanks for all the work you have done for the DBIA – lots of new ideas to keep the downtown a fun place to visit.
