Town of Cobourg Employee Arrested

In the early morning of Saturday, September 11, 2021 Cobourg Police started an investigation into a Town of Cobourg Employee because of a complaint by a resident. Initially, the name of the man charged “was not released to protect the integrity of the investigation and ensure the victim’s privacy”. But today, Police announced that 27-year-old, Michael Dale Orleck of Hamilton Township has been arrested and charged with sexual assault, mischief to property under $5000 and criminal harassment.  This is because the investigation suggested there may be other victims so “the name and photo of the suspect are being released”. Police say that Orleck worked at the Cobourg Community Centre but is “currently prohibited from attending there until the conclusion of the court proceedings”.

What questions would you have asked?

I doubt that…I understand he’s been a good employee for quite some time. He is innocent until proven guilty, except in the court of public opinion. Now that his name and picture have been published, it’ll be virtually impossible to get out from under this, even if he is completely exonerated.

Based on what the Police Chief said there is a possibility there are other victims so they must have strong evidence.

Actually, I heard from a Town summer student that a female student had went to her Town supervisors complaining about sexual harassment from this individual earlier and her complaint was not dealt with.

Really vetting through a criminal records check would tell you someone is going to do something like this? What vetting would you suggest pyshcological testing? 🤦‍♂️
